Selina Wallis

Selina has many years experience of Public health research, working across diverse areas including, impact (REF case study development), participatory action research and community involvement, loneliness & violence prevention. Working previously in NHS commissioning and provider organisations, academic institutions and with public bodies. She has a particular interest in studies relating to capacity building in low resource settings, quality improvement in health and patient experience and involvement.
Selina is passionate about public health and evidence-based medicine and the ethics of public health: (non-maleficence, beneficence, health maximisation, efficiency, respect for autonomy, justice, proportionality). As part of this, she works towards ensuring that users of services are involved in co-producing research, as well as having the opportunity to take part and ensuring that science is communicated to the public in ways that is truthful, engaging and promote learning.
Selina came into public health as a layperson, through the NCT, working on the Liverpool maternity services committee and running a research users group, she held a public appointment with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and as a Doula has attended over 50 births across the North West.
