The event will include:

  • Keynote addresses

The Digital Experience Insights Survey for all Teaching Staff 2024 is closing soon.

All full-time or part-time teaching staff at Queen’s will have been sent an email with a survey link. If this includes you, please complete the short survey and let the Centre for Educational Development (CED) know your digital experiences and thoughts.

On completion of the survey, all teaching staff can enter a separate prize draw to win Amazon vouchers up to £100. This year there are more prizes to be won.

CED knows that demands on your time are very high but if you can spare 10 minutes to gather valued feedback it would be very much appreciated.

About the Survey

FREE ONLINE WORKSHOP: INTRODUCTION TO STAKEHOLDER NETWORK ANALYSIS

  • Session Two (Tutorial): Tuesday 28 May, 10.30am to 12.30pm

Background

Member States require tools to build effective partnerships and networks among stakeholders to achieve meaningful progress in NCD prevention and management. This workshop will provide guidance to national and local authorities, as well as stakeholders involved in programs and networks dedicated to the prevention and management of NCDs and NCD behavioral risk factors: unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, tobacco use, and alcohol consumption. It offers details on conducting Stakeholder Network Analysis to inform their work and programmes. The workshop explains how these programs can effectively shape, activate, and sustain stakeholder networks to support a comprehensive approach and address the economic, commercial, environmental, and social determinants of NCDs. Stakeholder networks hold the potential to promote healthier environments in both physical and digital spaces, improve access to and availability of healthy and sustainable diets and opportunities for physical activity, enhance transparency and mitigate conflicts of interest, especially within industries like food, tobacco, and alcohol, which often clash with NCD prevention goals, and identify and harness win-win opportunities for cross and multisectoral action.

This workshop has been developed by researchers from Queen’s University Belfast as part of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training on Complex Systems and Network Science for Non-communicable Disease Prevention and Control.

REGISTER FOR ACTIVE BYSTANDER TRAINING – 15 MAY 2024

Have you ever been in a situation where you want to challenge someone’s behaviour, but you didn’t know how to do it or what to say? As part of our commitments in our Athena Swan Gold action plan we have committed to increase the number of staff completing Active Bystander Training so they know what to do if they witness or experience inappropriate behaviour.

The Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing Unit and Queen's Gender Initiative therefore invite all staff to attend Active Bystander Training on Wednesday 15 May from 2.00pm to 3.30pm via MS Teams.

Register via iTrent Employee Self Service. The Teams invite will be emailed the day before the session.

This short Active Bystander training session aims to help staff across our community to challenge unacceptable behaviours in a safe and constructive way. The session includes self-coaching techniques to help you when you’re faced with a challenging situation, and assertive language devices which you can use to make sure your voice is heard if you want to raise a concern. We hope that by working together we can create a safe and supportive working environment within our community and urge everyone to attend. Professor Phil Hanna (Dean of Education, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences) provides Queen's guidance on the use of AI detection tools, highlighting concerns regarding the reliability and accuracy of AI detection tools.
